Beth & Andrew’s Secret Melbourne Elopement

Sometimes all you need is two of your closest friends, a Registry appointment, a suitable frock, a suit….and a little cake to boot to get married. That is what Beth and Andrew did, who are absolute sweeties with their BYO tea from the UK, perfect manners and British quips.

Melbourne turned it on with sunshine and blue skies, having the sun nice and low all day being winter, we basically had golden hour throughout our time together. This had me jumping from light beam to light beam with a Labrador on crack.

Getting ready happened at the luxury Grand Hyatt, where they also shared the tea and cake with their two best friends. A perfect day all round!

I also had Sarah from Between Moments Co capture the video portion of the day.

Tell me about the beginning!

We met on tinder in May 2022, Beth was going to be relocating to Australia in September of that year. We thought this would be it and she and I would part ways. Visa laws changed and paperwork was amended and in September 2023 we both made the move together instead! We emigrated across the world together to truly being a life together. We have shared many dates, from our first at a small Mediterranean restaurant in Sheffield, to an Arctic Monkeys gig in a park and a scuba diving tour in the Great Barrier Reef! Each time we go out we know it will be another day to add into our memories and to keep making them each day

When and where did you get engaged?

We got engaged 1 year prior to our wedding on the 8th June 2025 on Hamilton Island. This was our first time visiting the Whitsundays and we now have that place in our hearts. We visited Hamilton island from Airlie Beach, Beth was unaware of anything that was coming however Andrew had already spoken to the hotel about to beat spots to propose. We were at One Tree Hill, taking in the views of the Whitsundays, when Andrew popped the question. We then spent the next 3 days enjoying our little bubble of the Whitsundays and our engagement

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day? Feel free to elaborate about your choices and venue.

We want our ceremony to be intimate, quiet, and personal to us. We cannot have our families here because of the distance so we are celebrating with us as our family

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

To hold and commit to eachother. To celebrate our love and lives. To be just us for a day.

Your Top Tips on planning your day!

Forget what the guests want, it is your day to say 'till death do us part' this is a journey into a marriage, not a day to impress everyone else
